Restoration of Stations of the cross Easthampton, MA

The 14 reliefs of the Stations of the Cross are made of Plaster of Paris, set in wooden frames in Neo Gothic Style. They were painted over two times and some of the colors on the figures were changed thus loosing the Iconic meaning and proper historic authenticity of the narrative. The restoration process was to remove all the added paint layers on top of the original layer, revealing the intricate details and original colors. Same process was applied to the frames, revealing the original wood graining, the stenciled details and gold leaf. The missing and damaged parts were repaired, in painted and the overall structure was stabilized.
